“We received top marks for the past Symposium and achieved 15% growth, a good mixture of 50% industry and 50% IT, over 30% newcomers, two complete streams for Systems Engineering and Digital Manufacturing. I am sure, we will set the next milestone.”
The Symposium for me is the perfect confession for no wall between Asia and Europe. Where else do you have in such a remarkable way a BMW, Bosch, Continental, Daimler, Denso, Hyundai, Honda, Mazda, Toyota and everyone else who wants networking 100% conform to Antitrust?
The Code of PLM Openness is a manifesto for the openness of PLM solutions. It expresses openness by features and characteristics, it is universal and timeless and serves as the basis for cooperative collaboration between IT system vendors and users to improve the interoperability of PLM solutions. I am pleased that the CPO will be an important priority topic at this symposium.
Two core elements of every agile setup are a constant, value-driven prioritization of features and the ability to roll out software artifacts in short cycles – both can be tough in an enterprise environment. With PLM standard software, driven by long-term roadmaps, major releases and cross-client product development, it becomes a real challenge. Together with Ventum Consulting, BMW explores ways to profit from both sides. The presentation will discuss challenges from PLM initiatives at BMW and outline best practices to realize agile benefits with PLM packaged solutions.
Validating autonomous driving functions will need millions of tests be executed and managed. This can no longer be done with methods like Hardware-in-the-Loop or prototype cars only. Instead the Electronic Control Units (ECUs) or even whole ECU networks together with environment models have to be simulated in a virtual setup. The usage of such virtual ECUs and the potential of standardization will be investigated by the prostep ivip SmartSE project. First results of this activity will be presented.
